Rust Protection

Protect Vehicle with Expert Rust Defence

Rust isn’t just a cosmetic issue it’s a silent threat to your vehicle’s structure and longevity, often leading to extensive repair costs. At AutoBlastNI, we specialise in safeguarding vehicles in Northern Ireland by combining precision dry ice blasting with high-quality rust treatment technology, extending the life of your car and preserving its value.

What Causes Rust on Vehicles?

Rust develops when steel and iron in your car react with oxygen and moisture, creating iron oxide  the familiar flaky surface you know as rust. Several factors make vehicles especially vulnerable, including:

  • Environmental Exposure: Coastal air, high humidity and salt-spreading roads increase corrosion risk.
  • Chemical Exposure: Road salts and de-icing agents accelerate the metal-oxidation process.
  • Physical Damage: Scratches, stone chips or dents expose raw metal, giving rust a starting point.
Typical trouble-spots include underbodies, wheel arches, engine bays and sills areas we specialise in treating.

How Do I Prevent My Car from Rusting?

Here are the key steps we recommend:

  • Regular Thorough Cleaning: Keep undercarriages and wheel arches clear of dirt, grime and salt deposits.
  • Protective Coatings: Use specialist treatments to seal vulnerable metal exposed to weather or road chemicals.
  • Frequent Inspections: Early detection of surface damage or rust allows for rapid intervention.
Apply rust-protection early ideally before rust becomes visible for the best results and longest lifespan

Why Dry Ice Cleaning Is Ideal for Rust Protection

Compared to washing or wire-brushing, dry ice blasting offers a superior base for rust treatment:

  • No drying time: Unlike water-based cleaning, the surface is ready immediately for further treatment.
  • No abrasives: The method gently clears corrosion without further damage to metal or coatings.
  • Residue-free: No leftover chemicals to interfere with bonding of protective treatments.
Using this method, we ensure your vehicle’s surfaces are as clean and prepared as possible before applying a protective coating.

Rust Defence with Lanoguard

As a certified application centre for the premium Lanoguard coating, we offer a durable, water-repellent barrier designed to protect chassis, underbodies and exposed metal surfaces from corrosion and rust. Once applied, Lanoguard forms a protective shield that helps fight salt, moisture and road grime — keeping vulnerable areas sealed and maintained.

How Long Does the Lanoguard Application Take to Cure?

After application, your vehicle can safely be driven within 24-48 hours. However, the coating takes approximately one week to fully cure and reach its maximum protective performance. While the vehicle is with us, we keep it in a clean, dry, secure facility to ensure the treatment sets correctly.

How Much Does It Cost to Apply Lanoguard to My Vehicle?

For a straightforward application of Lanoguard, our standard price is £195. For best results especially on a previously untreated vehicle we recommend combining the coating with a full dry ice clean beforehand. This gives the treatment the best possible foundation and maximises protection.
